Step 1: Design

Interior Designers agree that starting with a rug and working up when designing your space, is the best practice. Most individuals that are in the market for rugs don't look at it that way; typically people look for a rug in the middle of their decorating process. Step 2: Colors

Choosing your colors is easy, Kumari maintains a color scheme with 600 different colors of accurately dyed wool to ensure a great match to your fabric samples, paint swatches and even wall arts. To match colors, simply provide us reference to the paint swatches or fabric samples you are working with and we will match our poms to it. After that we will mail you the matched color poms for your reference and approval. Once we have your design and colors finalized we will show you a digital image of how your rug will look. At this stage we will assist you in determining the proper size, shape and the material content for the rug

Step 3: Fibers

We primarily use the following natural materials in our hand knotted rugs.
 
Tibetan Wool-Wool fibers are coated with a thin protective membrane that makes them water, stain, and soil resistant. Upkeep of wool is easier than most other materials. Wool is also highly elastic. Due to this quality, furniture and foot-traffic marks brush out easily. Since harvesting wool is far more energy-efficient than producing synthetic fibers, wool rugs are more eco-friendly than imitations.
 
Banana Silk - The natural fibers of banana silk are produced from the banana tree trunk and leaves, not from the actual fruit or peel. The banana fiber has a unique shine thus creating a silky and sleek look. Our Banana silk can be paired with wool to create high quality hand knotted rugs that are durable and colorful. In addition for those customers that are looking for that exclusive look, we even use Chinese Silk. We recommend primarily using Silk as accents to designs.
 
Hemp and Aloe - The Eco friendly Hemp and Aloe fibers are naturally resistant to rot and mildew, and can be used both indoor and outdoor. Both fibers have an extraordinary neutral color tone that can be used natural or dyed and are a bit coarser than wool. The non dyed fibers are in high demand and come in two different shades of light and dark. The Hemp and Aloe fibers will ensure a long-lasting, sturdy, and durable rug for high traffic areas. You can also add Wool or Silk blends to Hemp and Aloe rugs.

Step 4: Shape & Size

Step 5: Production

Once the design process is complete and approved by you then we begin production on your one of a kind hand knotted rug. In most cases, production time will be around 14 weeks.
